The Macau Physical Therapists Association (MPTA) launched the MPTA Brain Health Aerobic Exercise Promotion series to celebrate World PT Day 2025. The series launched on 7 September with a community focused brain health aerobic exercise session that aligned closely with World Physiotherapy’s 2025 theme of Active Ageing. The program emphasized how safe,
regular physical activity underpins healthy longevity by preserving functional independence, supporting cognitive vitality, reducing fall risk, and fostering social participation. By highlighting evidence-based components—resistance exercise, aerobic exercise, and cognitive practice—the event translated the Active Ageing theme into practical, research-informed guidance for maintaining brain health and daily function, especially in the context of dementia, tailored to Macau’s community needs.
The session introduced dementia, outlined the current situation in Macau, and provided hands-on practice of evidence-based brain health aerobic exercises. More than 30 service users, family members, and staff took part, with strong engagement throughout and enthusiastic feedback—participants reported learning something new, enjoying the activities, and feeling energized and confident to continue exercising. MPTA Brain Health Aerobic Exercise will be released on various online platforms to extend access and support at-home participation. Looking ahead, the series will offer follow-up resources and explore community partnerships to sustain regular brain-health activities and broaden participation across settings in Macau.
