Hong Kong: World PT Day 2026

To celebrate World PT Day 2026, the Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association (HKPA) organised the “World PT Day 2026 Carnival” at the Wong Tai Sin Temple Fung Ming Hall on 6 September 2026. The event brought together physiotherapists, students, healthcare professionals, and members of the public for a meaningful day of health education, interactive learning, and community connection.

Before the interactive booth sessions began, the event opened with a series of educational health talks delivered by physical therapy experts and specialty groups:

  • ‘Stroke Risk Factors, Signs, and Immediate Action’ (「中風患病的高危因素及預防;中風臨床表徵及即時處理」) — Delivered by HKPA Neurological Specialty Group (NSG)
  • ‘Cardiovascular Health at Home’ (「降壓『心』招數:15分鐘教你心血管安全的居家動態伸展與有氧操」) — Delivered by HKPA Cardiopulmonary Specialty Group (CPSG)
  • ‘Introduction and Experience of Nordic Pole Walking’ (「『心・杖』之合:北歐杖健步行 (Nordic Pole Walking) 簡介與體驗」) — Delivered by Dr. Irene Wong, Registered Physiotherapist (Hong Kong) (Canada)
  • Reversing Sarcopenia (留住肌肉=留住青春——物理治療師教你三招逆轉肌少症) — Delivered by HKPA Geriatric Specialty Group (GSG)
  • Managing Common Pain in Older Adults (護老者常見痛症及處理) — Delivered by Sik Sik Yuen Physiotherapy Centre

Following the talks, participants explored four dedicated health-promotion booths delivered by the HKPA Specialty Groups and the Sik Sik Yuen Physiotherapy Centre. Through practical assessments, interactive activities, and personalised advice, visitors were encouraged to take a proactive role in maintaining their health.

The GSG booth complemented its lecture by introducing sarcopenia screening via the SARC-F questionnaire, helping visitors recognise age-related muscle loss early.

At the NSG booth, participants had their blood pressure, height, and weight measured to identify modifiable stroke risk factors.

The CPSG engaged visitors through an interactive true-or-false activity addressing aerobic exercise misconceptions, while distributing stress balls to reinforce hand-grip strengthening techniques shared in their talk. Additionally, the Sik Sik Yuen Physiotherapy Centre raised stroke awareness through the "FAST" (談、笑、用、兵) framework and utilised Moti Physio digital technology to offer personalized postural analyses.

With a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the World PT Day 2026 Carnival created a valuable opportunity for the public to engage directly with physical therapy professionals, gain practical health knowledge, and discover the vital contribution of physiotherapy to lifelong well-being.
