We work with our diverse and rich membership base to advance physiotherapy across the globe

As a global organisation, World Physiotherapy advocates for the profession at an international level by collaborating with our member organisations to:

  • champion access to affordable health care for all
  • promote and support evidence-based physiotherapy practice
  • develop and deliver the highest possible standards of physiotherapy education

Our advocacy work includes:

  • advising physiotherapists on working safely in emergency and disaster situations, including humanitarian responses and pandemics
  • enabling people to seek physiotherapy support without first having to be referred by another health care professional (also known as direct access or self referral)
  • encouraging people to become more physically active to encourage better health and improve understanding of the profession and its role ensuring people with disabilities have access to a career in physiotherapy, as well as to good physiotherapy services
World Physiotherapy works with and through its members to fulfil its mission of moving the physiotherapy profession forward and promoting its contribution to global health.
