World Physiotherapy’s Global Summit on AI in Physiotherapy, hosted by the Taiwan Physical Therapy Association (TPTA), takes place in Taipei, Taiwan, on 10-11 October 2026.
The summit will bring together international experts to explore how AI can be used responsibly and effectively across the profession.
A key intended outcome of the summit is the development of a practical global framework to support the considered and ethical use of AI across three pillars of physiotherapy: research, education, and practice.
Rather than prescribing a single approach, the framework will set out broad principles that member organisations, practitioners, educators, and policymakers can apply appropriately across different countries and contexts.

International participants are invited to attend the summit’s open sessions for free:
Opening ceremony and forum (120 minutes): on 10 October, the opening ceremony will be followed by a forum exploring the role and scope of AI in physiotherapy and healthcare, led by six international speakers:

- Eric Y. Chuang, Former Director, Biomedical Technology and Device Research Laboratories, Industrial Technology Research Institute (Taiwan)
Closing ceremony (60 minutes): on 11 October, participants can attend the closing ceremony, where the outcomes of the summit will be presented.
Between these open sessions, invited experts will take part in closed working sessions focused on education, practice, and research, working towards the summit’s final framework. These working sessions are not open to other participants.
During this time, international participants can attend scientific sessions organised by the TPTA at the same venue, which will include English translation if required.
