The Icelandic Physiotherapy Association (IPA) celebrated World Physical Therapy Day by participating in a democratic forum in Akureyri, Iceland, www.lysa.is. This democratic forum is attended by associations, unions, politicians, lobbyists and the general public and is a platform for both formal events and informal conversation between different stakeholders.
Two events were on the agenda of IPA, panel discussions on PTs in primary care and the other was about mental health. That panel caught the attention of the media and the PT president, Unnur Pétursdóttir was interviewed on the state national radio.
The association published regular updates on Facebook, that members were quick to distribute further, making sure that physiotherapy made some “traffic” on the Icelandic Social Media on the day.
