International Committee of the Red Cross
On the occasion of World PT Day 2025, the Physical Rehabilitation Program of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) organised an awareness video highlighting the importance of physiotherapy for older adults. The video also presented simple and essential exercises that can support their mobility and independence.
In parallel, the Iraqi Physiotherapy Association held a symposium on 9 September, at the Directorate of Operations Hall. The symposium aimed to shed light on the vital role of physiotherapy in promoting health and enhancing mobility to achieve the highest level of independence.
The event was opened by Dr. Abdul Nasser Kamel, Deputy Director of Operations, who affirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to supporting this profession. Mr. Abbas Fadhil, President of the Iraqi Physiotherapy Association, also addressed the audience, congratulating physiotherapists on their day and emphasizing the association’s role in developing the profession and protecting it from non-qualified practitioners.
The symposium featured contributions from experts from Lebanon and Syria, alongside an interactive workshop delivered by a team of Iraqi physiotherapists focusing on the health of older adults and fall prevention. Additionally, two Iraqi researchers presented their scientific studies during the event.
