The Kuwait Physical Therapy Association (KPTA) focused on the theme for World PT Day 2020 around the impact of COVID-19 on the profession and the vital role physiotherapy plays in its recovery and rehabilitation. KPTA emphasised social distancing by planning all the activities online, mainly through social media.
The website of the association has been officially declared (kpta-kuwait.org), although activities were organised through the association's Instagram account (@kptaq8). The activities included:
- videos of several physiotherapists who participated directly in treating COVID-19 patients (in Arabic/English languages). They talked about their role in ICU, ECMO team and wards through acute and rehabilitation phases
- videos of telehealth sessions that have been implemented since the curfew and total lock-down (i.e. paediatrics, orthopaedic and neurology specialties)
- live interviews with physiotherapists with focus on: physiotherapy practice in ICU and ECMO team, impact of COVID-19 on private practice, and virtual clinics or telehealth outcomes during the pandemic specially the (luck-down times).
- health tips and flyers (obtained from the World Physiotherapy website) distributed through social media
- radio and TV interviews with Board members (in Arabic/English Languages) for raising awareness about the World PT Day and particularly about the Rule of PT with COVID-19 patients.
