Foundation University College of Physical Therapy (FUCP)
FUCP celebrated World PT Day 2022 by organising an event on 8 September. The programme started with a recitation of Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem and welcome address by Director FUSH. Almost 150-200 guests including Principals, HODs, faculty and administrative officials from FUSH; FFH as well as students of FUCP, FUMC and FUCD attended the event.
Mahboob Medical Institute (MMI)
Like every year, MMI celebrated World PT Day on 8 September 2022 in Pakistan. Celebrating World PT Day aims to promote and support the efforts in profession and advance the expertise of the professionals and to raise the awareness regarding the importance of physiotherapy in the rehabilitation process.
On 8 September a cake cutting ceremony was jointly held in Mahboob Medical Institute and Habib Physiotherapy Complex. Teachers, Students and Staff participated with a spirit to serve humanity. A free physiotherapy camp for patients was also organised in the Habib Physiotherapy Complex.
School of Allied Health Sciences, CMH Lahore Medical College & IOD
The School of Allied Health Sciences, CMH Lahore Medical College & IOD celebrated World PT Day 2022 for the first time on 8 September at the campus.
Associate Professor & Head of Department DPT, Dr Wajida Perveen, highlighted the history of World PT Day and the World PT Day theme. She shared information regarding representation of Pakistan Physical Therapy Association as a member organisation and the services and opportunities offered by World Physiotherapy towards the global physiotherapy community.
A talk about sports physiotherapy was held, and the theme of World PT Day, osteoarthritis and role of the physiotherapist. A video was also prepared and played by DPT Students, about misconceptions existing regarding the physiotherapy profession in Pakistan. Their experiences of campus life were also presented in the form of another video.
Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University (STMU), Department of Rehabilitation Sciences (DRS)
STMU celebrated World PT Day 2022 in collaboration with its sister organisation and affiliated teaching hospital, the Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited Shifa International Hospital (SIH). A walk was arranged to raise awareness of the importance of physiotherapy in which both the academic faculty and clinical physiotherapists participated actively.
This was followed by a free physiotherapy camp set up for the general public at the university campus. A brief hands-on session regarding the role of physiotherapists in knee osteoarthritis was also arranged for the final year students of Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), facilitated by the faculty members of Department of Rehabilitation Sciences. The event was closed by a cake cutting ceremony arranged by the students of the final year of DPT.
