The Physiotherapy Students’ Welfare Society, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo organised a “Colombo Physiotherapy Week 2022” to commemorate World PT Day. This consisted of a series of webinars and onsite physiotherapy awareness programmes 2-8 September 2022. All the awareness programmes were mainly focusing on this year’s theme of osteoarthritis.
Physio life care Sri Lanka and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Sri Lanka
To celebrate World PT Day 2022, Physio life care Sri Lanka and Chartered society of Physiotherapy Sri Lanka collaborated with a health and beauty club YouTube channel to hold a series of events with six months of activities. Together with the YouTube channel and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, a booth was set up with various promotional activities to teach the public. The campaign focussed on this year's theme of osteoarthritis and the role of physiotherapists in its prevention and the management of people affected by osteoarthritis, as well as how to choose the correct exercise programme.
Physio life care also held a public lecture and panel discussion to discuss the campaign which was focused on how physiotherapy can help those affected by osteoarthritis.
All together 15 health promotional activities took place and two videos were produced:
Teaching Hospital Batticaloa
The hospital celebrated World PT Day 2022 on 19 September with the following activities:
- welcome Speech by Mr. Mohanakumaran (senior physiotherapist)
- guest Speech - by Dr M Barthelot (deputy director-1) and Dr FP Mathan (deputy director-2)
- introduction to physiotherapy by Mr Rakunaraj
- orthotics and prosthetic usage in physiotherapy rehabilitation video presentation by "elife"
- a physiotherapy awareness session, including risk of osteoarthritis in working environment and the health and safety of health workers.
