World PT Day, celebrated on 8 September 2025, focused on the theme of healthy ageing with special attention to preventing frailty and reducing the risk of falls. This annual event highlights the essential role physiotherapy plays in promoting independence, mobility, and quality of life across all stages of ageing.
The Yemeni Physical Therapy Association (YPTA), in collaboration with the ICRC, celebrated this year’s event by extending activities beyond the capital to reach more governorates including Hadhramaut, Hodeidah, and Saada, in addition to universities, hospitals, and community centres.
A comprehensive toolkit provided by World Physiotherapy supported the campaign. It included information sheets, posters, banners, and social media graphics, all designed to engage the public and raise awareness about physiotherapy’s role in maintaining health and preventing falls in older adults.
During the celebrations, the toolkit materials were widely shared and used across activities. These initiatives inspired individuals and families to embrace healthier lifestyles and highlighted physiotherapy as a vital partner in supporting healthy ageing.
World PT Day 2025 successfully broadened awareness of physiotherapy’s role in healthy ageing. The expansion to more cities and the strong community engagement reflects a growing recognition of physiotherapy’s importance within the Yemeni healthcare system. This event not only celebrated the profession but also reinforced the commitment to improving quality of life for older adults and the wider community.
