Purpose:

Evaluation of postural deviation and the level of risk among computer workers. Effect of work station design on postural deviation. Identify ergonomic deficiency in work place.

Methods:

In this cross sectional study, 95 computer worker included (age 25-45 years) based upon inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data was collected from the various offices and banks of anand kheda district. Posture evaluation was carried out by REBA Tool. To identify the ergonomic deficiency at workplace NIH- self assessment checklist for computer worker had been used. Nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire was used to identify the unreported musculoskeletal pain or trouble experienced by computer worker due to poor posture. Descriptive analysis done using SPSS version 26.

Results:

Overall mean score of 95 participants is 5.66 ± 0.91. which is suggestive of medium risk according to the REBA categorical scoring. Over all mean score of ix workstation design is 76.21 ± 12.74 %. which indicates that 76.24 % work station design is appropriate.There is significant negative correlation between the REBA score and Work station design r = -.629, p = .000.

Conclusion(s):

This study concludes that based on posture evaluation majority of computer worker are at moderate risk of developing WRMSD. Higher ergonomic deficiency found in accessories component and break component of workstation while in other component not much deficiency observed. There is moderate correlation between posture of computer worker and work station design.

Implications:

This study would identify the computer workers at various level of risk factor and evaluate posture which helps to identify the workers at risk of developing WRMSD.Through Self assessment of working place, participants would provide information regarding work station which helps to identify the deficiency in work place which can cause postural deviation and work related musculoskeletal disorder.
