The challenges for sarcopenia and frailty patients with cardiopulmonary disease in rehabilitation -Case study seminar-

Anna Christakou, Atsuyoshi Kawagoshi, Masakazu Saitoh, Hans Hobbelen
Session outline:

Sarcopenia is registered as a disease code (ICD-10) in the 10th edition of the International Classification of Diseases and has been reported to be associated with cardiovascular and respiratory diseases and subsequent progression to a state requiring long-term care and death. Frailty is diagnosed using various assessment scales and can significantly impact prognosis in various disease areas. This session aims to present case studies illustrating physical therapy approaches for sarcopenia and frailty in the respiratory and cardiovascular disease domains. As a result, we aim to serve as guidance amidst global aging trends.

Diversity:

The seminar focuses on Sarcopenia and frailty in the cardiorespiratory field, spanning into geriatrics. Particularly in elderly individuals characterized by the coexistence of multi-morbidities, respiratory and cardiovascular diseases can be complicated in various filed. The content will be beneficial not only to specialists but also to a wide range of participants from different physiotherapy specializations.
