the objective of the study is to assess comprehensiveness and relevance of items of stroke knowledge assessment tool in context with young Indian population.
For the content validation of stroke knowledge assessment tool total 10 experts were recruited in the study. from that five were lay person from our targeted population (age group of18 to 45 years) three neurophysiotherapist and two Neuro physician who have worked at least for five years in the field of stroke for content validation online google form was shared with the experts and were requested to critically review the items. reviewing was done on the summation of the score of I-CVI,S-CVI/AVE,S-CVI/UA,CVR ratio.
The I-CVI value of 43 items (demographics-9, knowledge-17, response-17)
ranged from 0.3-1.0 which shows high variance regarding the related relevance.
Overall, 5 items have I-CVI value less than 0.7. The S-CVI/Ave for relevance is 0.87
and CVI is 0.79. The I-CVI value of 43 items (demographics-9, knowledge-17,
response-17) ranged from 0.6-1.0 which does not show high variance regarding the
related comprehensiveness. Overall, 3 items have I-CVI value less than 0.7 (1 from
demographics, 1 from knowledge, 1 from response). The S-CVI/Ave for
comprehensive is 0.85 and CVI is 0.71
The SKAT is a reliable and valid tool for assessing the knowledge and response of
stroke among young Indian population. Although some items needed modification,
preliminary findings suggest that this tool is a well validated and reasonably
comprehensive for assessing the awareness of stroke in context of young Indian
population.
By ensuring the use of tool is culturally and contextually relevant, healthcare providers can accurately assess stroke awareness among younger individuals. This enhanced understanding can lead to targeted educational interventions, promoting early recognition of stroke symptoms and timely medical response. Ultimately, improving stroke knowledge in this demographic may reduce incidence rates and improve outcomes, as timely intervention is crucial in stroke management. This tool could also serve as a model for similar assessments in diverse populations.
