Purpose:

•Growing Aging Population: As the world's population continues to age, the prevalence of Cognitive Frailty and its associated challenges are increasing. Understanding the condition becomes essential to address the health needs of older adults effectively.

•Early Detection and Intervention: As, cognitive Frailty can severely affect an individual's quality of life, leading to reduced independence, impaired daily functioning, and increased risk of adverse outcomes such as falls and hospitalizations. its identification can may slow down its progression and prevent further cognitive decline or dependency.

Methods:

•Study Design: An Experimental study design

•Study Population and setting: Community dwelling older adults from senior citizens clubs/centres, old age homes were recruited.

•Sampling Design: Simple Random sampling (Random number generator)

•Study duration:  April 2022 to January 2023

•Sample Size: 38 subjects (19 in each group)

•Sample size was calculated from the Pilot study based on the following formula

• Study Group: There were two groups in study

Group A (Exercise Group) = Multi component exercise program

Group B (Control group) = Health awareness sessions (No active intervention)

• OUTCOME MEASURES:  6 Minute Walk Test,4 Meter Walk Test

Results:

38 cognitively frail older adults were split into two groups: Group A (Exercise Group) and Group B (Control Group). Group A followed a 12-week Multicomponent Exercise program, while Group B attended weekly health education sessions.

•Group A also improved in physical performance measures, such as the 6-Minute Walk and 4 Meter Walk Test. Group B showed no significant changes.

Conclusion(s):

In conclusion, the study provides compelling evidence that a 12-week Multicomponent exercise program can effectively enhance both physical function and cognitive performance in older adults with cognitive frailty.

Implications:

Exercise interventions hold significant importance as non-pharmacological interventions for older individuals with cognitive frailty. This study highlights the clinical significance of recognizing cognitive frailty as it can often go unnoticed due to subtle cognitive irregularities that fall below clinical detection thresholds. Recognizing and assessing cognitive frailty is essential for designing targeted interventions. its screening should be incorporated as a routine component of geriatric assessments.
