Background: Physical activity is a behavior that is strongly associated with health. Women are more likely than men to be physically inactive (not complying with the WHO recommendation) associated with their gender roles. Physical inactivity is high in low-income and aging women. This population is atend in the primary health care system.

Purpose: To describe the trend of physical inactivity according to population surveys applied in Chile between 2015 and 2017 and their association with comorbidities.

Methods: Secondary analysis of data from the National Health Survey 2016-2017 and the National Survey of Physical Activity Habits 2015 applied in the Chilean population. The prevalence of physical inactivity in women was used for the analysis. For the association with comorbidities simple logistic regression was used.

Results: Prevalence of physical inactivity during leisure time in women was 90% according to the National Health Survey 2016-17 and 84.9% according to the National Survey of Physical Activity Habits 2015. Being an Inactive Woman is associated with risk of Arterial Hypertension OR 1.5 IC (1.1-2.0) 25% CI (23-28), Diabetes OR 1.4 IC (0.9 - 2.0) 10% CI (8.0 - 12), Cardiovascular Disease OR 1.6 IC (1.2-2.2) 15% IC ( 13-17). 61.9% of women report an intention to start to perform physical activity. The main reason for performing physical activity is "Health" (30.4%).

Conclusion(s): There is a high prevalence of physical inactivity in women. The highest risk of develop a comorbidity been an "inactive woman" is for Hypertension and Cardiovascular disease.
Women manifest an intention to perform physical activity mainly associated with obtaining health benefits.

Implications: high prevalence of physical inactivity in women, its association with comorbidities and the intention of women to perform physical activity with health benefits is presented as an opportunity to develop programs in primary care directed by the physiotherapist that provides these benefits to the population for prevention and treatment of chronic noncommunicable diseases.
