EQUITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION FOR PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS IN A GLOBAL CONTEXT - IT’S COMPLEX

It may be complex and hard, but we have to rise to the challenges and opportunities, learn and lead for the future.

It's not a competition, one EDI consideration does not trump another and the perspective on that EDI factor all depends on the view from where you are standing, your lived experiences, privileges, and biases. You can’t get it right all of the time so how do we live, learn and lead to move forwards as a community?

Silence, assumptions and perceptions need to be questioned. It is important to act now and facilitate the global development of the profession through meaningful representation and participation (avoiding tokenism), and by recognising and dismantling systemic barriers and structures that pervasively undermine EDI.

Objectives:
  1. Widen understanding on the complexity of issues that intersect
  2. Explore strategies for more inclusive action to address inequities
