Background: Asella Physical Rehabilitation Centre is one of the nine PRCs supported by the International Committee of the Red Cross's (ICRC) Physical Rehabilitation Programme (PRP) in Ethiopia providinding Physical Rehabilitation service for more than 1000 People with disabilities per year.
The Beneficiary Feedback &Technical Assessment is a tool used by the ICRC to evaluate the technical quality of the services provided by the partner organizations. The tool consists of; a questionnaire for beneficiary feedback, a technical assessment and objective tests, which highlights several technical aspects of the Prosthetic and/or Orthotic device and physiotherapy services received from the PRC
Purpose: The objective of this study is to show the relevance of appropriateness of device prescription to the functional outcomes of lower limb prosthetic and orthotic devices users.
Methods: This is a descriptive study that uses secondary data source from ICRC BF&TA tool which was carried out on 116 lower limb prosthetic and orthotic beneficiaries who were invited by simple random selection .The BF&TA originally used the technical assessment of device, users, Service users file review , subjective questionnaire and objective functional testing. Finally Epi info 7 was used for statistical analysis. The initial part the technical evaluation includes the appropriateness of the clinical prescription done by the evaluating (ICRC) team based on the set guidelines.
Results: Out of 116 beneficiaries invited Asella PRC for BF &TA in, 75(6in time period between 2015 and 2017, 75(64.66%) were male, 41(35.34%) were females. Concerning age category, 112(96.55%) were adults while 4(3.45%) of them were children. In terms of types of device 62(53.45%) were lower limb prosthesis while 54(46.55%) were lower limb orthotics device users.
Our result showed that, the overall appropriateness of prescription is 86.96% while the overall functionality of device users is 54.22%.
Conclusion(s): The functional outcome of the devices is only 54.22% while the devices considered to be appropriate is 86.96% despite all the prescription of device were made by MDT. The discrepancy between the appropriateness of devices and functionality of device users could be due to other factors involved. For instance, the users intrinsic and extrinsic factors and disability may play a role.
Implications:
Keywords: Appropriate, Prescription of devices, Functional outcome

Implications:
- Even though, there seems other factors linked with the functional outcome of prosthetic & orthotic device users other than appropriate prescription of devices, PRCs need to work hard to improve the overall functionality.
- Longitudinal study is needed to make this study more scientific since our study is only descriptive.
