Physiotherapists' role reversal (DS-05)

Description

Most of us may have experienced being on the other side – being a patient, being seen by a physiotherapist or having treated a patient who happens to be a physiotherapist. What are the benefits and pitfalls of experiencing the other side? And what can we learn from it? The panel of this session will share their experiences as patients and engage with the audience to explore the different facets of this role reversal.

Objectives

  • Explore how physiotherapists’ experiences as a patient have shaped their views of the profession
  • Discuss elements of their daily physiotherapy work that have changed due to them experiencing the other side as a patient
  • Discuss how other physiotherapists might learn from these patient perspectives
