Shaping the future of physiotherapy through financial analysis and health economics

Michel Landry, Jean Damascene Gasherebuka, Kyle Covington, Rik Dawson, Allison Stene, Ashley James, Fran Theron
Session outline:

What’s the value of physiotherapy? Can we demonstrate it to those that pay? Globally economies are changing and geopolitics impacting healthcare provision. Health financing is often a hot topic in political debate and funding models vary globally. Important for influence is being able to argue the case for investment in physiotherapy education and service provision, that means presenting strong arguments that underpin the value of physiotherapy, but how confident are we in answering that?

There is an important role for member organisations in advocacy, backed up with data and evidence.  Reliable data and statistics are often compromised by gaps in information and systems that exist. As a profession we need to clearly articulate outcomes that can be attributed to our interventions and that requires data.

Join us as we explore what we know and what we don’t know and what we can do about it.

Learning objective 1:
Explore processes and systems required to collect data that will demonstrate value
Learning objective 2:
Understand how data can impact influence and what that can lead to
Learning objective 3:
Discuss the gaps and how they can be addressed.
Primary topic:
Professional issues
