The Geneva Convention Bureau has presented physiogeneve with an award, in recognition of their contribution to WCPT Congress 2019 in Geneva.
Physiogeneve is the regional group of physioswiss, the host WCPT member organisation, and was heavily involved in the congress. The award was presented to Edmund Biason, lead for the physiogeneve local volunteer group, and Corinne Bernimoulin, also from physiogeneve, at the bureau’s Ambassador’s Dinner on 5 February. The dinner is part of the bureau’s Ambassador’s Programme.
David Cougoule, Business Development Expert - Association Management for Geneva Convention Bureau, said: ‘The Ambassador’s Programme recognises the contribution and work of local organising committees and their collaboration with European and international event organisers. This award is in recognition of physiogeneve’s role in welcoming and entertaining delegates to Geneva for WCPT Congress 2019. They found creative and innovative solutions to help physical therapists visiting the city find accommodation, and provided entertainment and affordable food and drink options at the PTHub. One of the legacies of this congress is the positive impact it’s had on our local community.’
Edmund said: ‘Being involved with the congress was a great opportunity for us – to introduce people to Geneva and to offer a place for people to meet and talk. The award is a fitting finale for our local team’s exceptional human adventure in honor of the WCPT Congress 2019 in Geneva.’
WCPT worked closely with Geneva Convention Bureau, physioswiss, and physiogeneve to develop and deliver WCPT Congress 2019. The congress set a new record for an international congress held in Geneva: WCPT brought together the highest number of nationalities for an international congress in Geneva, with delegates from 131 countries.
Tracy Bury, WCPT deputy chief executive, said: ‘This is the third consecutive time WCPT has won an award for its congress. It’s testament to the collaborative nature of congress and demonstrates how the congress can raise the profile of the physical therapy profession locally.’
