The Japanese Physical Therapy Association (JPTA) has received the Japan Excellent Conference Award 2025 from the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).
Each year JNTO awards the national organisation that has hosted the best international conference in Japan. Last week at an awards ceremony held at the Tokyo International Forum, JPTA were announced as the winners of this award for the World Physiotherapy Congress 2025, which was held in Japan for the first time in 26 years in May last year.

World Physiotherapy Congress 2025 welcomed over 4,500 participants from more than 110 countries/territories, including physiotherapists, researchers, educators and leaders to exchange views on a wide range of topics, including the latest research, education, and clinical topics.
As the hosts, many members of JPTA and physiotherapy students volunteered to help with the congress, both in the leadup to the event and onsite. In addition, JPTA arranged a number of clinical visits, where a range of public and private physiotherapy facilities opened their doors for congress participants to see how physiotherapy is practised in Japan.
Sidy Dieye offered his congratulations to JPTA on receiving this award:
'This is truly an outstanding recognition and a testament to the remarkable leadership of President Saito, the entire JPTA executive team, and all JPTA members whose commitment made the World Physiotherapy Congress 2025 such a success.'
