A record number of abstract submissions for World Physiotherapy Congress 2025, 29-31 May in Tokyo, Japan, have been received.
A total of 3,355 submissions were completed and submitted by the closing date on 3 October 2024. The previous highest number of submissions was 2,883 for the congress in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 2011.
Submissions have been received from people in 101 countries/territories. The five countries/territories with the highest number of abstract submitters were Japan, United States, Australia, India, China.
More than 100 people from 43 countries/territories have already registered to attend congress. The five countries/territories with the highest number of registered participants are Japan, United States, France, Germany, Philippines. The deadline to register at the early bird rate is 30 January 2025.
Catherine Joy Escuadra, congress programme committee chair, said: “The number of abstract submissions and the number of people who’ve already registered demonstrates how much interest and excitement there is about being part of World Physiotherapy Congress 2025.
“We want to thank the 365 abstract reviewers in advance for their contribution in reviewing the record number of submissions and helping build a vibrant, engaging, and diverse programme to bring the global physiotherapy community together in Tokyo.”
The congress programme will also include 11 clinical seminars, developed with World Physiotherapy specialty groups, to address relevant practical questions using case studies.
These sessions will offer an engaging way to hold in-depth discussions on clinical topics across the profession.
