The World Physiotherapy board has appointed Sidy Ousmane Dieye its next chief executive officer (CEO).
World Physiotherapy contracted with Saxton Bampfylde at the end of 2024 to lead the board through the critical process of searching for World Physiotherapy’s next CEO. A high number of applications were received from a range of experienced and well-qualified applicants.

Michel Landry, World Physiotherapy president, said: “Sidy brings a wealth of experience, including many years as World Physiotherapy head of programmes and development, and a deep commitment to advancing the physiotherapy profession worldwide.
“Sidy is well-positioned to lead World Physiotherapy into its next chapter of growth, innovation, and global impact. As CEO, Sidy will work closely with our board, staff, member organisations, and global partners to further our mission and vision. We are confident that Sidy’s leadership will strengthen our voice on the global stage and continue to build a strong, inclusive global physiotherapy community.”
Sidy said: “I am honoured to lead World Physiotherapy and build on its global legacy. Having worked alongside our members and partners for nearly a decade, I’m committed to advancing equity, innovation, and the profession’s voice in global health. Together, we will empower physiotherapists worldwide to meet tomorrow’s challenges and create lasting impact.”
Sidy joined World Physiotherapy in 2016 and has shaped the organisation’s programme and development activities in west Africa, south east Asia, central Asia, and south America.
Sidy’s first working day as chief executive officer will be 15 April 2025. His transition to the role will be supported by Tracy Bury, who has been interim chief executive officer since May 2024.
