Participants on the latest World Physiotherapy leadership programme have welcomed the opportunity to share knowledge and experiences during the course.
The group started the programme in October 2023 and finished in September 2024. This was the third group to complete the programme and was comprised of the leadership of World Physiotherapy specialty groups. Applications were received from 10 specialty groups and each group was allocated two places.
Evaluation from this group indicated participants were very satisfied with the programme rating their experience on average as 94/100 on a sliding scale. Feedback included:
- “I like that the reading material is offered one month in advance so that we can prepare ourselves when we have a chance. I very much like the online presentations of the experts, making the material come alive with their experiences. And great with the transcripts in multiple languages making it easier to go back and recap on parts. And I like the links to a select and relevant amount of complementing material.
- “From the reflective activities, I very much liked to have my own reflections reflected upon by the others, and to reflect upon the others' reflections - opening up new perspectives as well as reassuring me that what I do with my executive board is quite okay. These activities also enhance the feeling and experience of being a part of the global network of World Physiotherapy.”
- “I think the timing was good; I found it to be a good pace, neither too slow nor too fast. Why? Because I could focus on the material, participate in the session, and then forget about it for a while and then repeat the loop. Had I been constantly occupied by thinking of the course, it might have felt different in a negative way.”
Birgit Mueller-Winkler, World Physiotherapy policy manager, said: “It is an honour to manage this programme and see how participants engaged with exploring the topics covered during the course. The mixed-methods approach with monthly live online meetings allow the participants to share their experiences and connect with their peers.”
A fourth group, comprising the leadership of World Physiotherapy member organisations, has recently started the programme and includes 34 participants from 26 countries/territories in five regions.
The online learning material provided by subject matter experts is complemented by monthly discussion sessions. The programme concludes with an online forum where participants present case studies, informed by their experiences and knowledge gained during the programme.
