World Physiotherapy publishes guidance to support implementation of education framework

World Physiotherapy has published a guidance document to support implementation of its Physiotherapist education framework.

The guidance for developing a curriculum for a physiotherapist entry level programme has been developed by World Physiotherapy in collaboration with a working group of physiotherapist educators from around the world. It has also had input from World Physiotherapy subgroups, providing examples of research evidence that should be reflected in the curriculum.

The working group developed the guidance to support the implementation of the Physiotherapist education framework and in response to requests for more specific guidance on how to develop a curriculum for an entry level physiotherapist programme.

Emma Stokes, World Physiotherapy president, said: “Higher education institutions planning or developing new entry level physiotherapist education programmes may find the guidance useful, and it can also be used to guide the review and revision of existing programmes. It may also be of value to new faculty contributing to curriculum development for the first time.”

The guidance is available in English and will shortly be available in French and Spanish.
