Dario Santos is the chair of the scientific committee for the South America region conference in Uruguay in 2026.
He holds an MSc and a PhD in medical sciences from the Universidad de la República (UdelaR), Montevideo, Uruguay. He is an associate professor of rehabilitation and clinical biomechanics, Hospital de Clínicas, UdelaR, and is a professor of physiotherapy, Unidad Académica Fisioterapia, Facultad de Medicina, UdelaR.
He specialises in knee rehabilitation, British Hospital, Montevideo, with expertise in joint mobilisation, based on the biomechanical principles of Mac Conaill and Kaltenborn, Mulligan Concept (manual therapy with movement), Mackenzie Method (mechanical diagnosis and therapy, MDT).
In the context of his research, clinical activity and teaching, he promotes interdisciplinary integration on studies of musculoskeletal clinical biomechanics with special emphasis on the knee: including mechanical and computer engineering aspects to rehabilitation and specialists related to locomotive system.

Gabriella Malma is a director of the Latin American Center for the Development of Physiotherapy and Kinesiology, and a cardiorespiratory physiotherapist at the Intensive Care Unit, National Institute of Child Health, Lima, Peru.
Gabriella holds a diploma in clinical simulation, La Sabana University, Colombia, and a Master's in university teaching, San Ignacio de Loyola University.
She is a pre- and postgraduate professor, Second Specialty Program, Federico Villarreal National University.
Gabriella is a past president of Asociación Peruana de Fisioterapia (ASPEFISIO)/Peruvian Association of Physiotherapy and a past executive board member of World Physiotherapy (2015-2019).

Jorge Fuentes is a kinesiologist, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and holds an MSc PT and PhD in rehabilitation sciences, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.
Jorge has spent 29 years teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students at a number of universities in Chile, and is a professor and director of the Department of Kinesiology, Universidad Católica del Maule. He is the national director of continuing professional development and Improvement, Chilean College of Kinesiologists.
He is an expert reviewer for a number of publications, including Physical Therapy Journal, Physiotherapy Journal, Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has published a number of book chapters on the subject of physical agents and more than 50 WOS publications in the most relevant journals in the discipline.
Jorge is a regular speaker at national and international conferences on physiotherapy, with special focus on pain research.
Webinar description
This webinar will aim to provide information about preparing and presenting abstracts for international conferences and congresses, including the South America regional conference to be held in Uruguay in April 2026 and the World Physiotherapy congress to be held in Mexico in 2027.
In addition, information on the abstract review criteria will be provided for all those interested in presenting an abstract for any future World Physiotherapy event.
