The Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) highlighted the importance of World Physiotherapy Day to its members and the wider community via several avenues. Members were provided with a suite of assets to download and share within their networks and practices via APA's Flagship EDM, in which an overview was provided of the celebration and the 2018 theme ‘Physiotherapy and mental health’. This included posters, infographics and Facebook image tiles. The idea was that members would not only use the posters in their workplaces, but also share the assets widely via their own social media and professional networks to promote the profession.
These assets were located on a dedicated World Physiotherapy Day page on APA's corporate website, which provided further context and ways for members to get involved in the celebration.
For health media and the wider community a media release was published highlighting the importance of good physical health for improved mental health, using a quote from its National President and referencing research that showed that poor mental health led to early death as a result of cardiovascular disease. This was published by two online publications.
Additionally, a Facebook post was published for the association's 41,000 followers and the corporate website home page banner was updated to include the 2018 theme.
