The Nepal Physiotherapy Association (NEPTA) celebrated World Physiotherapy Day by organising an “Inter Physiotherapy Futsal Tournament” among physiotherapists working in various set ups in Nepal. The objective was to promote health and fitness, as well as to build camaraderie among the physiotherapists. General Secretary of NEPTA, Shamed Katila Shrestha, kicked off the event with a welcome speech. Willy Bergogne, the country director of the Humanity & Inclusion Nepal programme expressed in his speech the emerging need of physiotherapy and physiotherapists as one of the integral assets in the health sector. Hereafter, zumba dance heated the ground just before the futsal match. Physiotherapists representing various organisations, universities, hospitals and clinics formed eight team to play a day league match. The certificates, trophies and cash prize were handed over by the Senior Vice President, Laxman Adhikari and the President, Nishchal Ratna Shakya at the end of the programme.
The NEPTA- Chitwan branch organised a seminar on “Ergonomics” for the bankers. The Butwal branch celebrated by distributing fruits to inpatients of Lumbini Zonal Hospital Government Hospital and also provided awareness about physiotherapy. The Biratnagar branch organised a yoga class, wheelchair race, free physiotherapy camp, blood donation programme and exhibition on rehabilitation products.
