Nepal: World PT Day 2025

The Nepal Physiotherapy Association (NEPTA) organised several activities in Kathmandu, Nepal to mark World PT Day 2025, on 8 September. Four major programmes were successfully conducted in alignment with the global theme of “Healthy Ageing”, engaging over 280 physiotherapists and physiotherapy students, alongside representatives from professional associations, government bodies, and community organisations.

Event highlights included:

  1. Walkathon and Interactive Panel Discussion
Nearly 270 physiotherapists and students participated in a walkathon to raise public awareness on healthy ageing and the importance of physical activity. The walkathon concluded at the National Trauma Center, where an interactive panel discussion was jointly hosted with the Geriatric Society of Nepal. The session emphasised strategies to promote health and well-being in the community, with active participation from government representatives.
  2. Rehabilitation and Geriatric Health Screening Camp
In collaboration with Kathmandu University Hospital, NEPTA organized a community health screening program at Rudra Foundation, Kritipur. Over 60 older adults (aged 65 and above) underwent physical, mental, social, and emotional wellbeing assessments. Physiotherapists and students facilitated screening tests and group exercise sessions designed to promote mobility and independence among the elderly population.
  3. Paper Presentation Competition and Expert Session
