The Yemeni Physical Therapy Association (YPTA) celebrated World PT Day on 8 September 2024, and focused its activities on the essential role physiotherapy plays in the management and prevention of low back pain.
This annual event aims to raise awareness about the role of physiotherapy in enhancing mobility and overall wellness. This year YPTA held its activities in collaboration with the hospitals and ICRC, aimed at the community and university, and clinics. The World Physiotherapy toolkit was made available, which included information sheets, posters, banners, and social media graphics designed to engage the public. These materials aimed to promote the role of physiotherapists in managing low back pain and to encourage individuals to seek physiotherapy for their health needs. Various organisations and clinics hosted workshops, free consultations, and community events to educate attendees about effective physiotherapy practices and exercises that can alleviate back pain.
World PT Day 2024 successfully raised awareness about the critical role of physiotherapy in managing low back pain and improving quality of life. The role of enthusiastic participation and engagement from the community reflected a growing appreciation of physiotherapy's value in healthcare. This event not only celebrated recognising the profession, but also encouraged ongoing dialogue about the importance of physical health and rehabilitation.
