PHYSIOTHERAPY WORKFORCE: THE ROLE OF INTERNATIONAL PHYSIOTHERAPISTS IN FULFILLING LOCAL POPULATION NEEDS

Outline:

The physiotherapy workforce needs are as diverse as the profession itself and different regulations and health systems might require a different workforce to serve the local population. Some countries rely heavily on overseas qualified physiotherapists whilst there is an oversupply of qualified physiotherapists in others. This discussion session aims to explore a few related issues, focusing on challenges that come with an international workforce.

Whilst there is no one-size-fits-all approach, the panel will explore options on how to making the best out of the resources you have and discuss how good workforce planning looks like.

Objectives:
  1. Explore challenges that come with an international workforce
  2. Discuss prerequisites to fulfil rehabilitation needs of patients when relying on an international workforce
  3. Identify the requirements for a regulatory framework that supports sustainable, workforce planning
