Iraqi Association for Physiotherapy
To mark World PT Day 2026 the Iraqi Association for Physiotherapy (IAPT) held an event in Baghdad, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). It brought together a number of officials, representatives from relevant institutions, academics, and a large number of physiotherapists from different parts of Iraq.
The event included several scientific activities and presentations highlighting the role of physiotherapy in different areas of practice, as well as recent developments, approaches, and techniques within the profession. It was also a valuable opportunity to strengthen professional and academic exchange and highlight the importance of physiotherapy within the healthcare system in Iraq.
A second event was held on 12 September 2026 at Al-Sibtain University – College of Medical Rehabilitation in Karbala. This event was also organised by the IAPT and brought together physiotherapists, academics, healthcare professionals, and representatives from different institutions.
It included several scientific activities and presentations covering different areas of physiotherapy practice and recent developments in the profession. As part of the event, the ICRC contributed with a presentation highlighting the role of physiotherapy in Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI) and Early Rehabilitation, with a focus on strengthening the integration of physiotherapy within emergency response pathways and the continuum of care.
The event also provided a valuable opportunity for professional and academic exchange and generated positive interest in further developing the role of physiotherapy in emergency preparedness, clinical practice, and education.
Direct Health of Sulaymanya
The physiotherapy department of Direct Health of Sulaymanya in northern Iraq arranged a panel on 8 September. The panel was held under the title: Movement is life, physiotherapy makes the difference.
