The professional scope of physiotherapists is regulated by Medical Treatment Law and Normative Regulations of Latvian Ministry of Health, and the Physiotherapy Professional Standard. After completing an education programme (recognised by the Ministry of Education), graduates take a certification examination (held by Latvian Organisation of Health Professional). After successful completion, graduates may start independent practice as a certificated (licensing) physiotherapist.
