Open call for members of the WCPT Education Policy and Guidelines Expert Working Group (EPG-EWG)

WCPT is commissioning a project to work with WCPT member organisations and others to review the WCPT policy statement on education and the suite of associated guidelines. The guidelines are an important resource globally and used to underpin WCPT’s Accreditation Service, but it is time to review them and ensure that they are fit for the future. The revised policy will be presented to the General Meeting in May 2019 for approval.

To support and guide this work WCPT is convening an Education Policy and Guidelines Expert Working Group (EPG-EWG). We are now seeking applications from physical therapists with the appropriate experience, knowledge and skills to be a part of this group.

Are you:

  • Keen to ensure that WCPT’s education policy and guidelines reflect contemporary practice and ensure that physical therapist are equipped for current and future service delivery needs?
  • Willing to commit your time and energy over the next six months to engaging with the wider global physical therapy community to ensure that we get the guidance correct.

We’re looking for people with a range of skills and experience that will ensure we bring the following to the project:

  • Relevant experience and familiarity with WCPT’s education guidelines e.g. familiar with them in the context of delivering education at a pre-qualifying level.
  • Knowledge of and experience in curriculum design for national programmes of physical therapist entry level education.
  • An understanding of the changing context of service delivery and the need for education to keep step with changes in practice and influence it for the future.
  • Experience of WCPT’s Physical Therapist Entry Level Accreditation Service.
  • Knowledge of and experience with entry level education competency frameworks.
  • Experience of interprofessional education.
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory models relevant to physical therapy.
  • A commitment to the international exchange of information.
  • Sensitivity to/recognition of international differences in practice, education, professional needs and culture.
  • The support of your WCPT member organisation.
  • An ability to work in English.

Eligibility

Only physical therapists who are members in good standing with a WCPT member organisation, who is itself in good standing with WCPT, are eligible to be appointed to the Education Policy and Guidelines Expert Working Group (EPG-EWG).

Application requirements

Individuals wishing to serve as a member of the EPG-EWG should submit a letter of application, providing evidence that addresses the person specification, along with a curriculum vitae (max 4 pages).

A short letter of support from their WCPT member organisation must accompany this submission.

Membership of the EPG-EWG requires commitment of time and dependable availability to participate in meetings and undertake activities as required, working closely with and supported by WCPT secretariat staff and an external consultant.
