At the recent World Rehabilitation Alliance (WRA) steering committee meeting, two physiotherapists were appointed to co-chair two WRA workstreams.
Emma Stokes, World Physiotherapy president, was appointed to co-chair the external relations workstream and Alberta Rockson, World Physiotherapy Africa region executive committee member, was appointed to co-chair the emergencies workstream at the meeting in Geneva, 11-13 September 2022.
Once the first round of membership applications is completed in early October, newly approved members will be contacted by the co-chairs of the workstreams. Members will then have the opportunity to indicate their interest in being involved in a number of different workstreams.
Each workstream will then schedule a series of meetings with their members over the coming months, to develop their workplans.
Workstream members will then be invited to attend the WRA launch event in February 2023, when each workstream’s workplan will be presented.
Membership of WRA is open to those non-governmental organisations working internationally in the field of rehabilitation. World Physiotherapy has applied for membership and, once approved, will undertake a process to seek suitable candidates to represent the organisation and the wider global physiotherapy community within the WRA workstreams.
