The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) is one of our founding members and is part of our Europe region. Founded as the Society of Trained Masseuses by four nurses in 1894, it became the CSP in 1944.

London has been the location for two general meetings: the 12th in 1991 and the 2nd in 1953.

What are the circumstances in which direct access is limited?

Service restrictions due to healthcare structures in the UK. Everyone has the option to self refer to a private physiotherapists. NHS physiotherapy services do not all accept self referral due to service structure. This restriction is not autonomy based.
